World Heritage/Nara

Beautiful Place

This is a peaceful area of the park with sightseeing spots that should not be missed. including the Marumadotei Pavilion ,which is designedted as an important cultural property,Kataoka Baiin plum tree grove, and Ukimido Pavilion elegantly reflected on the surface of Sagiike Pond.

A building is reflected in the pond and is beautiful.
The far-off mountains are beautiful, too.

The Ukimi-do pavilion is hexagonal gazebo with thatched cypress roofing, fooating at one edge of Nara Park’s Saga-ike Pond.It is geometric shape reflects beautifully in the water below, and the building itself serves as a rest spot along the waterside. The former Ukima-do Pavilion deteriorated from age,and its current successor was restored and rebuilt over a period of three years from 1991 to 1994,bringing it back to its former beauty. The pavilion is located just past Asajigahara, near Kasuga Trisha Shrine.
