法隆寺の桜

法隆寺の桜が見頃を迎え満開です。

五重塔
我が国最古の五重塔で、607年（飛鳥時代）のもので、仏教寺院では最も大事な建物とされています。
釈尊の遺骨を奉安するためのものです。
高さは31.5mです。

飛鳥時代から残る木造建築

用明天皇（第31代天皇）が自らのご病気の平癒を祈って寺と仏像を造ることを願われましたが、その実現をみないままに崩御されました。
そこで推古天皇（第33代天皇）と聖徳太子が用明天皇のご遺願を継いで、607年（飛鳥時代）に寺とその本尊「薬師如来」を造られたのが法隆寺（斑鳩寺とも呼ばれています）であると伝えられています。
いつの時代も病気から身を守りたいという切実な気持ちは変わらないということですね。

境内は桜がいっぱいです。
丁寧に手入れされていてとても綺麗でした。

夢殿
奈良時代の建物です。
聖徳太子が住んでいた斑鳩宮跡に聖徳太子を偲ぶために建てたもので八角形で美しい建物です。

この写真は昨年のものです。
この桜の木を楽にみ見に行ったのですがなんと修復作業中の柵の中に。。。残念でした。
また修復作業が終わったら見に行きたいです。
