桜の木がいっぱいの法隆寺

法隆寺はお花の少ないお寺だなと思ってましたが、境内いっぱいに桜の木があってとても綺麗でした。

4月8日はお釈迦様の誕生日ということで法要が行われていました。

飛鳥時代から残る日本最古の木造建築

用明天皇（第31代天皇）が自らのご病気の平癒を祈って寺と仏像を造ることを願われましたが、その実現をみないままに崩御されました。
そこで推古天皇（第33代天皇）と聖徳太子が用明天皇のご遺願を継いで、607年（飛鳥時代）に寺とその本尊「薬師如来」を造られたのが法隆寺（斑鳩寺とも呼ばれています）であると伝えられています。
いつの時代も病気から身を守りたいという切実な気持ちは変わらないということですね。

金堂（左）

金堂も607年（飛鳥時代）のもので、法隆寺の御本尊を安置しています。
しかし670年に焼失し再建されています。
中には聖徳太子のために作れられた金銅釈迦三尊像（飛鳥時代）などが静かに立っています。
天井には天人と鳳凰が飛び交う天蓋が吊るされ創建当時の美しさが偲ばれます。

五重塔

我が国最古の五重塔で、607年（飛鳥時代）のもので、仏教寺院では最も大事な建物とされています。
釈尊の遺骨を奉安するためのものです。
高さは31.5mです。

夢殿

奈良時代
聖徳太子が住んでいた斑鳩宮跡に聖徳太子を偲ぶために建てたもので八角形で美しい建物です。

桜の木が2本あって満開で本当に綺麗でした。
