秋の女神龍田姫

龍田大社は紅葉の名所として有名です。

摂社・龍田比古龍田比売神社の祭神である龍田姫は秋の女神とされ、古来より多くの歌に詠まれてきました。
秋の女神と言われる通り、紅葉が大変美しいです。

紅葉の美しい寺社はたくさんありますが、こちらの紅葉は葉の一枚一枚に虫食いや痛みなどが全くなく、とても美しいです。
さすが秋の女神が守っているだけあるなぁと思いました。

龍田と竜田

この辺りの地名には「龍田」と「竜田」があります。
調べてみると「竜田姫」と「龍田姫」の両方があり、内容が似ているので多分同じものを表しているように思います。
一説によると山では「龍」、川では「竜」を使った説、または上流の大和川では「龍田」、下流の竜田川では「竜田」と表しているとか。
面白いですね。

1枚ずづアップで撮影しても美しい紅葉というのは思いの外少ないのですが、ここの紅葉の美しさは素晴らしく、秋の日差しを浴びて一層境内全体の美しさが際立ってました。
龍田大社の駐車場や周辺にも桜の木が多く美しい紅葉を見せています。

また龍田大社は「風の神様」と呼ばれ航海安全や五穀豊穣を叶える神様として深い信仰を集めています。
歴代の朝廷にも信仰された由緒あるお寺です。
